If a customer gives a high score, they will also give you a tip, along with up to three minigame tickets. When a cupcake is completed and sent to a customer, the customer will judge the food based on how long they had to wait for it and how accurately the food matches their order, and give a corresponding score.

This is done through four different stations: one for taking orders and three for making the cupcakes. During a day, a number of customers come in and place orders for cupcakes, and your objective is to create the food to their specifications. Each level constitutes one day of business at the Cupcakeria. When creating a new save file, you can choose to play as either James, Willow, or Custom Worker - Custom Worker is a fully customizable character that you can style to your liking by choosing the character's body type, skin and hair color, and clothing. In this game you play as one of the Cupcakeria's employees as they spend their days working at the establishment. Taking Roy's Cupcakeria hat and placing it on James/Willow/Custom Worker's head, Papa Louie officially designates him/her as the Cupcakeria's worker, much to his/her dismay. He gives Roy some money to pay for the car's repairs, and then offers James/Willow/Custom Worker a job at the Cupcakeria in order to help pay the expenses. Just as Roy is about to have a total meltdown, Papa Louie steps up to deescalate the situation. Unfortunately, James/Willow/Custom Worker doesn't have any money on him/her, infuriating Roy even more. He/she tries to apologize, but Roy is still angry about the accident and demands immediate payment. Roy gets out, examines the damage, and angrily taps on the other car's window, which rolls down to reveal James/Willow/Custom Worker (depending on who you chose to play as) smiling sheepishly. After leaving the mayor's office and beginning the drive home, another car hits them from behind as they stop at a stop sign. Papa Louie and Roy have just gotten their newest restaurant, Papa's Cupcakeria, approved for business by Mayor Mallow, the mayor of the snowy mountain town of Frostfield.
